The Enderby Wind Band was established in September 2005.
A traditional wind band format, we cater for all wind and brass instruments and our range of players currently includes Clarinets, Flutes and Piccolo, Saxophones, Oboe, Bassoon, Trumpets, Cornets, Horns, Euphonium, Trombones, Tuba and Percusionists.
The band attracts a wide range of players of all ages and abilities who share a passion for playing music together.
Maybe you used to play an instrument at school or university and haven't played for a while, or you're playing now and want to play in a group. We pride ourselves on being a friendly and inviting bunch who enjoy playing music together, helping each other to develop as well as enjoying social outings as well!
Our players pay a monthly subscription (£6.25 if you're in education, £12.50 if you're working) but we don't ask you to pay straight away - if you'd just like to come along for a couple of rehearsals and see if you like it you'd be more than welcome.
Each year the band performs at many venues and events across the county. You can find the current list of concerts and events on the events page. If you would like the band to play at an event for or near you, please let us know!
If you think that this would appeal to you then please get in touch via email: enderbywindband@hotmail.co.uk. The band rehearse every Wednesday in the Enderby Village Institute from 19.30 – 21.30.

Musical Director
Kenneth Tam is an experienced conductor, musical director, and performer with a long standing commitment to wind band and concert band music. He holds a BA (Hons) in Music from Hong Kong Baptist University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Solo Performance (trombone) from the Royal Northern College of Music, bringing together strong academic training with extensive practical experience.
He has worked with ensembles of all ages and abilities, directing and coaching primary, secondary, youth, and community groups in Hong Kong, and continuing this work in the UK. His conducting has been shaped through masterclasses and conducting course with Mark Heron, Professor Jerry Junkin and Dr. Thomas Verrier. In the UK, he is currently Musical Director of Burton Joyce Community Brass and previously served as Ensemble Director of the Peak District Wind Band, roles that reflect his passion for developing community-based wind and brass ensembles.
As a trombonist, Kenneth has performed professionally with a wide range of orchestras and wind ensembles, including the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Gustav Mahler Orchestra, and the Hong Kong Wind Philharmonia. Since moving to the UK, he has appeared regularly with ensembles such as the Nottingham Philharmonic Orchestra, Bardi Symphony Orchestra, Rutland Sinfonia, Peak Wind Orchestra, Carlton Brass, and Stamford Brass.
Wind band music has been central to his musical life for over 25 years. He began playing in school wind bands and was selected by audition as trombonist for the International Youth Wind Orchestra (WASBE) in 2011, performing at the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles Festival. He also spent eight years as a freelanced trombonist performing with the Hong Kong Wind Philharmonia under the baton of Professor Jerry Junkin, including an international concert tour to Korea in 2009.
Alongside his conducting and performing work, he is an active music educator. He currently teaches with Inspire (Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Music Hub) and is an accredited music teacher with the Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership, delivering individual, group, and whole-class ensemble tuition. He brings this educational focus into his work with Enderby Wind Band, aiming to support musical growth, ensemble cohesion, and engaging performances for both players and audiences.
